It's an annual ritual, a few days before the Lunar New Year. Besides the massive spring cleaning effort and getting rid of "old/unwanted" stuff, is the baking of the traditional kueh lapis. Interns (better name for helpers) will chip in with buying of ingredients, beating of eggs, and the tedious layer by layer baking.
