Gong Gong is 80 !!

As we awaits the rest of guests to arrive, it was "snap-snap" time to grab a few shots with Kong-Kong who will be 80 this year. Gathering friends and family members for an all-you-can-eat buffet dinner @ The Spices Cafe, Concorde Hotel was by itself a major exercise.

The idea of having a more interactive "buffet style" dinner with a wide variety of Eastern & Western food was to cater for the young and the not-so-young. It also enable more inter-mingling among the "cousins", their parents and their grand-parents. This was of course followed by the group photographs by families and various categories. Immediate children of Gong-Gong & Poh-Poh, grandchildren, nieces & nephews, etc .... It was really a memory test of who belongs to which family. (More like attendance taking !!!) The younger ones had their own fun, ranging from playing with iPad, iPhone or just running around & eating their favourite sushi or oysters. On the whole, it was a lighter note of celebration from the traditional sit-down dinner. Happy 80th Birthday, Gong Gong !!

1st pruning in 2011

"Pruning". Have not done this in years !!! Used to do this with the mulberry tree outside Dad's place at Huddington Avenue,,,. Its like giving the tree a haircut.

Anyway, armed with a long ladder and a pair of pruning tongs, was happily snipping away whatever that was hanging over our side of the kitchen wall. Quite a tiring process but it went well and had to leave the remains on the floor cos there were lots of sap. (Basically,leave it to dry off first before clearing).

After 10 years

A decade ago, the children (then) were awarded the naughtiest children certificate. Obviously, they remembered and waited 10 years later to return the title of "Naughtiest Dad Award" on my birthday. Happily, pictures were taken and posted on facebook to mark the occasion.

Son also decided that the T-shirt should be an EXTRA LARGE to cater for expansion. Looks like I'll have to amend my will to extend my socks to all of them. THANKS MUCH MUCH Hor !!!

New House

New House !!! Not really !!! After moving out of Kensington Park Condo, was temporary at Yi Mei Garden whilst "house-looking". Finally found one with my favourite number "7" and the whole proceedings completed on 30 Oct 2010. There were however tenants and they will stay for another 2 more months (till 31 Dec 2010). Came 1 Jan 2011 (1/1/11), the tenant moved out and the house was finally handed over. Quite a good way to start the year ? Not quite !!! An elderly lady who lived behind, was at the house when we came by to take over. She claimed that we our tree was having leaves falling into her compound and she asked us to have it removed. Brought her to the backyard to show her that the tree was in fact on the outside of our backyard wall and its roots were not in our compound (less two which found its way in). We later went to her house to view the tree. It was growing from the side of the wall, from her side of the fence/wall, thus its definitely not mine. Told her that I would welcome the removal of it if she so wishes but made it clear that it was not MY TREE !!! (The start of living on a landed property !!! Your TREE or MINE !!!)
