Concluding a 4-generation family

On the eve of 3 Dec 2022, "Dad / Kong-Kong / Ah Tai" slipped away at ward 12D, Bed 101, Tan Tock Seng Hospital (TTSH), concluding a 4-generation family tier. Though not directly due to his brush with COVID-19, it has complicated his health to a large extend. Following a stroke in the morning, he quietly faded away. Well remembered as a fighter for a better life, he recalled his earlier years when he first arrived in Singapore through a video visiting places from his yester-days (

Fishing morning

Price of chicken gone up. Gone fishing !! Had a fun morning fishing with son at Pasir Ris Central. Between us. Caught, a dozen fishes. The rain before the session certainly helped to cool the event. The MP (Desmond Tan) for the area was there to grace the occasion.

How they have grown !!

It was like "not too long ago" that these two were wobbling around, trying to walk. Before we know it, they are already three years old, having a conversation with us. They are growing up so fast. Time is flying by so quickly. Soon, they will be schooling and will be doing, "their things" as teenagers and we will be letting go ...

Evening View from SkyPark, MBS

The queue for the SkyPark snaked along the walkway, leading to the entrance of Tower 3, MBS. Many were in line to catch the sunset scene. After some 45 min wait, we finally gained access. Up at the 56th Floor, the bird-eye's view of the Marina Bay with the city sunset backdrop was spectacular while the view of the "Garden by the Bay" with the Singapore Strait in the background was most scenic. Though we were up for about 35 mins, it was a worthwhile experience.

Finally, managed a ride

We have planned for a ride since Oct 2021 but somehow could not align our schedule or had uncooperative weather. Finally, an impromptu proposal popped up, with about an hour lead time, since the weather seem perfect for an evening ride. R/V @ Henry's place and off we went for a 17 km ride along Sungei Pandan. Ended the evening with Hor-fun and the must have COFFEE !!!

Kueh Lapis, a family tradition

It's an annual ritual, a few days before the Lunar New Year. Besides the massive spring cleaning effort and getting rid of "old/unwanted" stuff, is the baking of the traditional kueh lapis. Interns (better name for helpers) will chip in with buying of ingredients, beating of eggs, and the tedious layer by layer baking. This year's effort is also captured on YouTube (See: https://youtu.be/ul1nAcWxnlw )

Year of the Tiger

With the COVID-19 Safe Management restrictions. The usual family re-union meet-uo was decentralised and spaced out to limit visitation to 5 pax (visitors). The family also took ART prior to visits, just to be extra safe, given that there is an elderly grandparent and 2 young "little ones" in the equation.
